Check out my Recent Paintings, the newest all stemming from a recent trip in spring to Japan. It was great to be back in Asia, where we lived for many years.
Although I started out painting realist portraits, I now paint contemporary abstract art, mainly large oil paintings. I really hate to be pigeon holed into painting one thing a hundred different ways, I often paint abstract faces and figures as well as abstract landscapes. Hard to categorize, my style evolves largely from Abstract Expressionism, and sometimes Minimalism. My large canvases focus on color and dynamic, gestural brushwork. A lifelong inward and emotional healing journey hopefully adds a unique original element and a certain edge to my abstract figures in particular, which have a more Expressionist vibe. As exemplified in my recent paintings inspired by Japan, travel and a life lived abroad is a huge influence on my work.
Nashville is home base now after living and painting for many years in Hong Kong and New York City, as well as London, Toronto and Atlanta.
